The 2024 VCE Exam Revision Series will take place from Monday, 23 September to Thursday, 26 September.

Led by high-achieving tutors who are recent VCE graduates, the Exam Revision Series is a fantastic opportunity for students to prepare for success in Unit 3/4 exams.  Students can choose one or more sessions from 12 of the most popular Unit 3/4 subjects,.

Each interactive, live online session includes:

  • A succinct summary of examinable content from the unit 3/4 study design
  • proven exam strategies
  • Interactive practice questions and worked examples
  • High-scoring sample responses
  • Q&A with our experienced tutors
  • Access to slides & bonus resources

Biology

Wednesday 25th September 10AM – 1PM

In this biology revision session, we will review all the content in the Biology study design, along with practice exam questions for all the sub topics. Additionally, we hope to answer your questions and provide you with tips and tricks to manage your exam effectively.

More specifically, it will include:

  • An overview of each area of study, covering all the content examined
  • A variety of questions, including multiple choice, short-answer, and extended-response, with a minimum of one question for each subtopic
  • Students will be given an opportunity to answer each question before we walk through it together, and identify marks allocated etc.
  • Exam techniques for answering different question styles, and time management
  • Exam terminology
  • Answering questions from the audience

By the end of the session, we hope that students will have refreshed their knowledge of all the content covered throughout the year, and feel confident in answering various question styles.

Meet your tutor, Chandrima

Chandrima graduated from Nossal High School with an ATAR of 96.25. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery (Hons) at Monash University. She is extremely passionate about Biology and therefore really excited to help students achieve their Biology goals. In the future, Chandrima hopes to become a nurse practitioner/midwife and help provide quality healthcare to people in remote/rural areas.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Tuesday 24th September 10AM – 1PM

Hello and welcome to the 2024 Skyline Hatch Business Management Revision Presentation! Congratulations on making it this far into the year – this is the final stretch! In this session we will revise topics from across Units 3 and 4 in the context of the final exam. We will focus on common problem areas, using VCAA’s expectations and feedback from past exams to guide us.

We will be covering the following examinable topics:

  • Business foundations
  • Human resource management
  • Operations management
  • Reviewing performance
  • The need for change
  • Implementing change

This session will feature interactive activities, quizzes and the opportunity to ask experienced tutors as many questions as you can. We will discuss past questions, exam strategies, and some examiner pet peeves.

By the end of the session, you will have:

  • Thorough knowledge of what the Business Management exam looks like, and how you can do your best to prepare for it
  • Knowledge of examiners’ expectations, and
  • A strong understanding of examinable Business Management topics!

Meet your presenter, jASMINE

Jasmine graduated with a 95.95 ATAR from Doncaster Secondary College in 2017, finishing with a 49 in Business Management. Driven by a passion for sustainability, she studied a Bachelor of Agriculture at the University of Melbourne, and now works on domestic agricultural policy for the Australian Government.

Chemistry

Thursday 26th September 4:30PM – 7:30PM

This session is designed to prepare you for your VCE Chemistry exam. It includes reviewing key topics in the study design, attempting multiple choice and extended response questions, going through detailed explanations and step-by-step working out, along with emphasising common mistakes students make; to help you avoid it and maximise your marks.

We will be focusing on the following:

Unit 3:
AOS 1: Fuels, redox chemistry, galvanic cells and fuel cells
AOS 2: Electrolysis, rates and equilibrium

‌Unit 4:
AOS 1: naming and properties of organic compounds, reaction pathways and green chemistry
AOS 2: Medicinal chemistry and analysis of organic molecules
AOS 3: Experimental design

‌You will also be able to ask questions you may have; whether it is content-related, exam-related or study-related, through our live Q&A function.

By the end of the session, we hope you feel more confident about sitting your final exam. You will have a thorough understanding of the content being examined. You will have learnt time-management strategies, study techniques and other exam tips.

Meet your presenter, sHASHINI

Shashini is a graduate of Nossal High School and is currently studying Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Sydney. Shashini loved learning VCE Chemistry and describes it as the perfect blend of Maths and Science. She is passionate about helping others to learn, improve and excel. Shashini strives to inspire students and help build their confidence in order to pursue their goals. She is very excited to be helping out in Skyline Hatch’s VCE Chemistry Revision Series.

EAL

These two sessions are designed to prepare you for all three sections of the EAL exam:

  • Section A – Analytical text response
  • Section B – Creating a text
  • Section C – Analysis of argument and language

Meet your presenter, Theano

Theano graduated from the Skyline Education Foundation program and South Oakleigh Secondary College in 2019 with an ATAR of 94.70. She is currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced) at Monash University. She is passionate about working with Children and Youth to make the future a better place and her goal is to pursue a career in Child Psychology. In her free time, she likes to travel and explore new places.

Meet your Co-presenter, sUSAN

Susan graduated in 2018 with an ATAR of 97.70. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History, she is now studying the Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne. As the lead tutor for Skyline Hatch, Susan strives to share her passion for English and the Humanities with students, not only to build the skills for obtaining high marks, but also to foster a love for learning itself.

Meet your Co-presenter, Aliya

Aliya is a second year student at the University of Melbourne where she is studying a Bachelor of Arts and majoring in Politics and International Studies as well as Media and Communication. She graduated from Maribyrnong Secondary College with an ATAR of 97.8 and a study score of 50 in English. In her spare time, Aliya enjoys reading and being with her friends and family.

General Maths

This session will help provide you with the tools and techniques required to push you through the general maths exams.

We will be covering:

In addition to helping you refresh your memories with all the content, we will also equip you with strategies and shortcuts to increase your efficiency with time management on exam day.

Anh is studying Software Engineering at RMIT. With his experience in VCE general math, math methods, and specialist math, he hopes to provide students with unique techniques and perspectives to tackle the hardest problems they’ll face in VCE math.

Meet your Co-presenter, Charlotte

Charlotte graduated from Melbourne Girls’ College with an ATAR of 98.80. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry at Deakin University. Outside of studying, she enjoys reading webtoons and listening to music. In the future, Charlotte hopes to become an optometrist and help provide quality healthcare to people in remote/rural areas.

Health & Human Development

Tuesday 24th September 1:30PM – 4:30PM

Boost comprehension and exam readiness in VCE Health and Human Development. Covering vital topics, data analysis, and tackling challenging queries, this session equips students with in-depth knowledge and effective exam tactics.

Topics Covered:

  • Dimensions of Health and Wellbeing
  • ‘Old’ and ‘new’ public health concepts
  • Ottawa Charter and the Australian Health System
  • Promoting healthy eating via Australian Dietary Guidelines
  • Concepts of sustainability
  • WHO’s role and Australia’s aid program features
  • Specific aspects of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and interrelationships

By session’s end, students will grasp core concepts, master exam techniques, and gain insights for success in VCE Health and Human Development.

Meet your presenter, Prabh

Prabh graduated from Mansfield Secondary College with an ATAR of 98.65, and a 47 in Health and Human Development. He’s currently studying a Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine at Monash University. Outside of study he has a interest in a variety of sports, hanging out with friends and having a good meal!

Math Methods

Part 1: Tuesday 24th September 10AM – 12:30PM
Part 2: Tuesday 24th September 1:30PM – 4PM

This session is designed to equip you with all the essential skills needed to succeed in VCE Mathematical Methods. We will address key points in the study design, learn to use CAS calculators efficiently, and go through tips and tricks for exams.

In particular, we will cover:

  • AOS 1: Functions, Relations and Graphs
  • AOS 2: Algebra, Number and Structure
  • AOS 3: Calculus
  • AOS 4: Data Analysis, Probability and Statistics

By the end of the session, you would have reviewed key areas of the course material, been exposed to a range of different exam-style questions, and addressed any concerns related to the subject. We will also have a Q&A session at the end to answer all your questions.

Haisong graduated high school with an ATAR of 99.70, and he is currently a first-year Bachelor of Science student at the University of Melbourne. In his free time, Haisong enjoys hanging out with friends, learning new things and volunteering. He is passionate about STEM subjects and hopes to help students achieve their best. He is very excited to meet you at the Maths Methods and Physics Exam Revision Series sessions this year.

Specialist Maths

Monday 23rd September 4:30PM – 7:30PM

This session is designed to cover all the key points in the study design and demonstrate common questions and errors that appear in exams. Additionally, it will highlight useful tips and tricks to respond to practice exam questions and cover general exam technique.
Content covered:

  • AOS 1: Discrete Mathematics
  • AOS 2: Functions, Relations, and Graphs
  • AOS 3: Algebra, Number and Structure
  • AOS 4: Calculus
  • AOS 5: Space and Measurement
  • AOS 6: Data Analysis, Probability and Statistics

By the end of the session, students would have reviewed the relevant course material pertaining to the study design, been exposed to a range of exam-style problems and addressed any concerns they may have through examples/questions regarding content and exam technique. Furthermore, students will have opportunities to ask questions and engage with tutors through QnA format.

Meet your presenter, Saskia

Saskia graduated from Methodist Ladies College with an ATAR of 99.85, and is currently studying Science and Engineering at Monash University. Saskia is passionate about helping students to improve their confidence and understanding of Specialist Maths to achieve their best in the subject! Outside of Uni and Skyline Hatch, Saskia loves playing netball, travelling and baking.

Physics

Wednesday 25th September 1:30PM – 4:30PM

This session is designed to equip you with all the essential skills needed to succeed in VCE Physics. We will address key points in the study design, go through exam-style questions, and learn about tips and tricks for exams.

In particular, we will cover:

Unit 3 AOS 1: Newton’s Laws of Motion and the Relationships between Force, Energy and Mass

Unit 3 AOS 2: The Effects, Interactions and Applications of Fields

Unit 3 AOS 3: The Generation and Transmission of Electricity

Unit 4 AOS 1: Light as a Wave/Particle, the Wave-Particle Duality, the Similarities between Light and Matter, Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity and the Relationships between Energy and Mass

Unit 4 AOS 2: Investigation Design, Science Evidence and Science Communication

The Psychology Exam Revision series is designed to prepare you for your exam over 2 interactive sessions by thoroughly exploring and revising all content in the new study design and participating in interactive activities that will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses.

Part 1 Content:

  • Nervous system functioning and Stress as an example of a psychobiological process
  • Neural basis of learning and memory as well as an explanation of the process of memory and the debate behind its reliability
  • Approaches to understand learning
  • Psychobiological process of memory

Part 2 Content:

  • The demand for sleep and its importance to mental wellbeing
  • Defining and maintaining Mental Wellbeing 
  • Biopsychosocial model of Specific Phobia

Plus a variety of multiple choice, short answer and extended response questions following the content to help you consolidate, identify your strengths and weakness and ensure you know how to get full marks!

By the end of the session you will have revised all areas of the study design, know how to read and interpret questions to get full marks and have a better, more thorough understanding of concepts

Hannah graduated from Covenant College with an ATAR of 98.80 and is now in her second year at the University of Melbourne, pursuing a Bachelor of Science and a Diploma in Japanese Language. She is dedicated to tutoring VCE students in Psychology and Biology, with a genuine passion for helping them enjoy their studies and achieve their full potential.
